About Shelli Olinsky

The power of SLC is immeasurable. Whether attending camp in the 1970’s and 80’s, or returning as an adult as Teenside Director, camp is timeless. The values that I learned as a ten-year old, are still part of the culture of camp today. Kids learn to communicate with each other, appreciate nature, gain independence, live as a community, and explore Judaism, to name just a few. 

Surprise Lake Camp’s mission, from early on, has been to provide a summer camp experience to all Jewish youth, regardless of their financial ability. I’m eternally grateful to the generous donations of Surprise Lake Camp supporters that allowed me to attend camp. My family is a product of SLC; my husband Larry and I met as campers and my daughters attended and discovered the magic of SLC on their own.
